We’re (always) keeping tabs on the budding “Geekhouse” trend going on in the Pacific Rim. A simple search for Geekhouse OR #Geekhouse on Twitter (as revealed to me by @jonathanawesome) reveals hundreds of tweets about the newest knock-offs for sale and this, coupled with my favorite Indonesian fixed-gear forum Kaskus, keeps us pretty up to date.
The good news is that we recently picked up a distributor in Jakarta that will be helping us sell the real deal in Indonesia! They’ve put in an order for a few very nice complete builds that will be making their way West (or is it East? I think it’s probably the same distance both ways) before you know it! They already deal Moots, Indy Fab, and some other steel & Ti fabricators. Check them out here: http://spectrumbike.com/
As for the fakes, they don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Here are some of our most recent favorites:
We’ve learned a lot about the knock-offs since our initial press release. Apparently, many of them (specifically those with decals) are from Singapore and they can cost anywhere between $60-$90 USD!
The segmented fork on this one is just great! :-P
Sweet angles!
We really appreciate everyone who has contributed to the discussion and filled us in on what’s happening. Since we first saw the fakes, we’ve learned a lot of things much cooler than the fact that our bikes are being knocked-off. Did you know: In Jakarta, Indonesia during periods of the weekend entire streets are shut down for walk/ride days? Are you listening Boston?
